Fans of Major League Baseball will be pleased to learn that the MLB plans to offer live streaming baseball games for iPhone and iPod touch in a league that places it ahead of all other major sports in terms of tech savvy. The $9.99 At Bat iPhone app will interact with MLB.tv to bring fans every single regular and post season game. Customers will need a subscription package through MLB.tv in order to watch the games and games can be paused or rewound while playing. The broadcasts will be streamed via iPhone Wi-Fi connection or 3G network.

The rules of normal Major League Baseball broadcasts will still apply, however. Those games that are blacked out in a local broadcast area will not be streamed live, instead being offered in the video archives after the game has concluded. This is a major advance from the June 2009 by the MLB to offer one free game of their choosing to customers who purchased the At Bat app after the OS 3.0 for iPhone.

Fans are expected to flock to MLB.tv en masse this season to soak up more of America’s favorite past time due to the attractive pricing structures offered for the streaming and the At Bat app itself.
