Software developer Gameloft has launched a fighting game for the iPhone titled Blades of Fury. The title is similar to the style of play gamers have come to know on such console titles as Mortal Kombat, Soul Caliber and Tekken, featuring unique ten combatants. Each warrior features their own set of moves and attacks as well as their own individual storyline. The arenas of battle are based on the background that each character comes from so that players will square off against other characters during combat in these settings.
Gameloft has previously released other titles for the iPhone that include Gangstar: West Coast Hustle, a Grand Theft Auto clone, and NFL 2010, a Madden style football game as well as the smash hit Assassin’ Creed for console systems.
Players will need to master an array of special attack combos in order to defeat their opponents and win the game from each character’s perspective, but there will also be multiplayer functionality. Using both WiFi and Bluetooth technology, players can battle others in their vicinity via their phones, but internet connectivity has not thus far been included for the title.
While a Lite version is rumored to be on the way, players can now download Blades of Fury for their iPhones for $6.99 in Apple’s App Store.
