iPhone lovers are patiently awaiting the release of the new 3G model today. O2’s CEO, Matthew Key has promised that the new and better version will be released in “the coming weeks”. Of course that is a vague statement. We aren’t technically any closer to pinpointing the exact release date than we were before.
When asked when the highly anticipated 3G iPhone would ship, Mr. Key stated “That’s more of a question for Apple…but over the coming weeks we will do a joint announcement with Apple as Telefonica Group”.
Although there has been no real statement as to when the new second generation iPhone will actually be available for the public, some analysts have predicted that we will see it around the end of June. This assumption has been made because AT&T issued their employees a memo refusing to allow vacations during that time. The reason for the vacation block is said to have been because of “an exiting Summer Promotional Launch”.
The iPhone rumors have also circulated about the inclusion of a faster wireless data networking, video chat support and other features for the new 3G version, although Apple has refused to comment on the exact features that will be included.
